| Men's DBT Group | | River City will be providing a total of 24 sessions for one and one halhours (90 minutes) per session with the objective of increasing interpersonal effectiveness, decreasing crisis inpatient admissions, and teaching skills for managing distress and impulsiveness. River City’s DBT group will teach four critically important skills that can both reduce the size of emotional waves and help participants balance when those emotions become overwhelming.
The group size will consist of 5-10 male participants ages 18 and older adult. Given that, at times it may be necessary to exceed this number, there shall be no more than 12 participants. Each session will consist of two group facilitators. All group facilitators are trained and skilled to provide these services. The participants will be individuals with Borderline Personality Disorder as well as other related disorders.
The Dialectical Behavior Therapy Skills Workbook by Matthew McKay, PH.D, Jeffrey C. Wood, PSY.D, and Jeffrey Brantley, MD and homework will be administered to this group. The Facilitator will administer workbooks and homework with the goal of skill acquisition (teaching), skill strengthening (practice), and skill generalization (homework). Targets for Skills training included decreasing behaviors likely to destroy therapy, increasing skill acquisition and strength, and decreasing therapy interfering behaviors.*We accept Medicaid, all major insurances, and private pay. We also offer a sliding scale fee.
