Basic Child and Youth Advocacy
This training explores: the ways in which children and youth are impacted by violence perpetrated against significant adults in their lives; the scope of physical and sexual violence perpetrated against children and youth; personal and community values about children and youth; policies related to reporting child abuse/neglect; unique issues of legal protections, confidentiality, empowerment, and culturally appropriate services for children and youth. These sessions are designed for advocates working with people who have experienced/are experiencing sexual and/or domestic violence and are conducted by members of the Action Alliance Training Institute Faculty and Staff. While this series is designed for staff and volunteers of Sexual and Domestic Violence Agencies (SDVA), the content might be helpful to allied professionals including healthcare providers, therapists/counselors, homeless services, faith communities, social workers, victim/witness assistance staff, and more.
