Outpatient Medical Centers Defined

Defined as a facility that provides corrective medical care to patients that do not require an overnight stay. These centers could be diagnostic, surgical, or provide other treatments.



Outpatient Medical Centers Definitions

Cardiac rehab services - provides treatment to restore and/or improve cardiac function.

CT imaging - provides computed tomography (CT); a noninvasive diagnostic technology that uses computer analysis of scans of a bodily structure or tissue to determine if there is any abnormalities.

Diagnostic imaging services - uses x-rays, magnetic fields, or other imaging tools to diagnose abnormalities.

Gastrointestinal center - provides services to diagnose and/or treat health issues involving the esophagus, stomach, intestines, colon, etc.

Laboratory services - collects and tests specimens to identify diseases and illnesses.

Medical practice/clinic - provides medical/physician services (examinations, etc).

Mental or behavioral health center - provides treatment for mental health and substance abuse issues.

MRI imaging - provides magnetic resonance imaging (MRI); a noninvasive diagnostic technology using a nuclear spectrometer (type of magnet) to produce images of specific atoms and molecular structures in solids, especially human cells.

Nutritional/dietary services - provides assistance with meal planning and determining an individual's nutritional needs.

Occupational rehap services - provides services to help patients participate in the meaningful activities of daily life, especially to enable or encourage participation in such activities in spite of impairment or limitations in physical or mental functions.

Pain management - provides assistance for patients who experience chronic pain.

Physical rehabilitative services - provides services to the physically disabled with the goal of restoring them to their former capabilities and/or greater independence.

Radiation therapy/chemotherapy services - provides radiation therapy and chemotherapy treatments, often for the treatment of cancer.

Surgery center - has licensed operating rooms to provide surgical services.

Weight management - provides information and programming on weight loss.
