Hospice Descriptor Definitions

Crisis services - provides emergency services to people in the final phase of a terminal illness who wish to remain in their homes.

In-home services - provides supportive care to people in the final phase of a terminal illness who wish to remain in their homes. Treatment focuses on comfort and quality of life, rather than a cure.

Inpatient services - provides supportive care to people in the final phase of a terminal illness and who are in the hospital. Treatment focuses on comfort and quality of life, rather than a cure.

Respite care - provides a temporary care to relieve the regular caregivers of a person in the final phase of a terminal illness from the responsibilities of caring for individuals.
