Several databases contain lots of information about charitable, community, and corporate foundations. Armed with a few search terms about the type of nonprofit organization and program you need to fund, these databases ought to yield some foundation "hits" for you to contact. The Foundation Center's Directory Online and the Directory of Virginia Foundations are available for free at several public libraries through the Commonwealth of Virginia (see list below beneath Foundation Center logo).
